Rishikesh → Uttarkashi → Gangotri → Guptkashi → Kedarnath → Badrinath → Rudraprayag → Rishikesh
This 3 Dham Yatra from Rishikesh is designed for pilgrims who wish to complete a spiritually fulfilling Himalayan pilgrimage covering Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath within a balanced and time-efficient route. Beginning directly from Rishikesh allows travelers to enter the sacred Char Dham region more quickly while reducing unnecessary travel from larger cities outside Uttarakhand.
The itinerary combines long scenic Himalayan drives, sacred river origins, high-altitude temple visits, and the physically demanding Kedarnath trek into one structured pilgrimage experience. Despite covering three major Dhams within 8 days, the route is carefully planned to maintain proper acclimatization, realistic travel durations, and balanced recovery periods between physically intensive segments.
Rishikesh (spiritual gateway) → Gangotri (origin of Ganga) → Kedarnath (Shiva shrine) → Badrinath (Vishnu shrine)
Your journey begins from Rishikesh as you travel towards Uttarkashi, the gateway destination for Gangotri. The drive gradually takes you into the Himalayan region, where winding mountain roads, river valleys, and forest-covered landscapes create a calm and spiritually uplifting atmosphere throughout the route. As the altitude increases, the surroundings become cooler and quieter, marking the beginning of your sacred Himalayan pilgrimage. Upon arrival in Uttarkashi, you check into your hotel and may visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple before resting for the next day’s excursion.
HighlightsMeals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Uttarkashi
You begin early for Gangotri, one of the most spiritually significant destinations in Uttarakhand. The route passes through dramatic mountain terrain, waterfalls, river gorges, and dense forests, making it one of the most visually striking journeys of the pilgrimage. Upon reaching Gangotri, you visit the sacred temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga and spend time near the Bhagirathi River, experiencing the peaceful and spiritually powerful atmosphere of the region. After completing darshan, you return to Uttarkashi by evening.

After breakfast, you proceed towards Guptkashi, the primary base destination for Kedarnath. This is one of the longest travel days of the yatra and takes you through changing Himalayan landscapes, sacred river confluences, and rugged mountain terrain. The constantly shifting scenery creates a deeply immersive travel experience despite the long driving duration. By evening, you arrive in Guptkashi, check into your hotel, and rest before the most physically demanding segment of the journey.
HighlightsMeals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Guptkashi
This is the most important and physically demanding day of the yatra. Early in the morning, you travel to Sonprayag and continue towards Gaurikund, which serves as the starting point for the Kedarnath trek. The uphill route passes through steep mountain terrain, waterfalls, rocky pathways, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, offering both physical challenge and spiritual fulfillment. Pilgrims who prefer a more comfortable option can choose helicopter services or use pony and palki facilities. Upon reaching Kedarnath, you visit the sacred temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, surrounded by majestic snow-covered Himalayan peaks that create an unforgettable spiritual atmosphere.
HighlightsMeals & Stay: Overnight stay in Kedarnath
You begin your day with early morning darshan at Kedarnath Temple, when the surroundings are quieter and spiritually more immersive. The peaceful mountain atmosphere combined with temple chants and cool Himalayan air creates a memorable spiritual experience before beginning the descent. After completing darshan, you trek back towards Gaurikund and continue your journey towards Guptkashi. Although physically demanding, the return trek offers a strong sense of accomplishment and spiritual fulfillment. Upon arrival, you check into your hotel and rest for the evening.
HighlightsMeals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Guptkashi
After breakfast, you proceed towards Badrinath, the final Dham of this pilgrimage. The route passes through Joshimath and offers dramatic mountain scenery, steep valleys, and scenic river stretches throughout the journey. Upon arrival, you visit Badrinath Temple and may also experience Tapt Kund, the sacred hot water spring located near the temple premises. The spiritual atmosphere combined with the majestic Himalayan backdrop creates a peaceful and deeply fulfilling experience.

After morning darshan, you begin your descent towards Rudraprayag. Compared to earlier travel days, this route feels more relaxed and allows pilgrims to gradually unwind after completing the major pilgrimage circuit.
